Surf Boat Racing

The surf boat has been for over one hundred years the most versatile of rescue craft. Requiring skills and strength only shadowed by courage these elite athletes place faith in a coordinated attempt to pass through the surf and return with a full crew with all limbs and flanges in tact.

The surf boat is versatile as it has been used to rescue bathers and also be a launch vessel for bowmen to jump at sharks with a knife at the ready when sharks have entered the swimmers area.

Male and female surf boat crews have competed for Tamarama in recent years with the strongest crew in recent years comprising Paul Martin Sweep, JC Lackey stroke, Warwick Clout 2nd Stroke, S Deguara 2 nd Bow, C Stuart Bow. They reached a ranking of 72nd best surf boat crew in the world through their outstanding performance in the world titles.
