Radio Care

General

  • Do use the appropriate channel
Channel Description
3 Emergency and external communication channel
9 Internal club communication channel
27 Party channel

  • Do maintain a professional attitude on the radio
  • Be aware that all communications are monitored by Surfcom

Before Use

  • Do check that the radio is fully charged and working
  • Do secure unused radios in the patrol room
  • Do place the radio in the water-proof sleeves provided

On The Beach

  • Do not let the radio get wet or sandy
  • Do not leave the radio lying in the sand
  • Do not leave your radio unattended

In The Surf

  • Do not take your radio in the surf

At The End of The Day

  • Do put the radio away properly
    1. Take it out of the water proof sleeve
    2. Clean the radio if required
    3. Turn off the radio
    4. Place the radio in the proper charger in the patrol room
  • Do make sure there are no missing radios

If a Radio Gets Wet

  1. Turn off the radio
  2. Remove the battery
  3. Allow all the parts to completely dry
  4. Reassemble the radio
  5. See if the radio is working, if not report the broken radio to the radio officer

If a Radio Breaks, Goes Missing, or Is Stolen

  • Inform the radio officer
